Pandemic Updates

In the midst of the informational pandemic (sometimes referred to as the “infodemic”), WHO is working hard to deliver useful, evidence-based guidance for countries and health workers. It is also exposing dangerous myths and misinformation, helping to save lives.

The COVID-19 Information Hub has replaced the previous situation dashboard to provide comprehensive access to current health information, data and products concerning the coronavirus pandemic. This includes information about the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak, which is a global outbreak of novel coronavirus (nCoV) – an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-related virus.

A year into the pandemic, schools have closed in nearly half the world, and millions of people are staying at home or losing their jobs. This is sapping economic growth, and putting the hardest-hit communities at risk of dwindling support. While no economy is immune, lower- and middle-income countries are particularly impacted. Oxfam’s research shows that almost no country is providing enough financial help for people to meet their basic needs. We need to speed up lifesaving tests, treatments and vaccines for all.
